What is "Giclée"?
1.Giclée (zhee·klay) (noun) - a process by which high-quality prints are produced using an ink-jet printer.
2.Giclée Printing and Framing (noun) - a cozy archival print shop located on route 20 in Palmer, Massachusetts!
Helloooo, August!
“Don't wait. The time will never be just right.”
-Napoleon Hill
August can truly feel like the Sunday of summer. Like how we can't ever believe how fast our "weekend" went by, and before you know it, it's Monday and the kids are back to school!
How has everyone's summer been? Are you staying inspired? Relaxed? Do you have a nice tan? (Or are you Irish, like us?) Humor aside, we hope it's been full of canvas painting, picture taking, and memory making with folks who are good for your soul. It's the last full summer month to go swimming and make a splash at something new.
Speaking of swimming: back in March, I was in Newburyport waiting for some takeout at a favorite Thai restaurant. While I waited, I decided to check out an art gallery next door. This gallery was called the Newburyport Art Association. I remember seeing this art piece of an otter swimming playfully. Now months later, I still haven't stopped thinking about it. Art is special like that. The artist is Mary Carvill. After some overdue research online, it turns out she has a gallery exhibit this month at the Georgetown Peabody Library. I'm sure the rest of her art is worth stopping in to enjoy.

What Makes Giclée Quality Different?

While it's easy to research online, we still don't expect everyone to know the difference between giclée prints and their 'premium' marketed cardstock cousins. As archival focused printers, we believe in longevity, which should be no surprise to most. What may surprise some however, is the price point when you see how much it costs to have a quality giclée vs said cardstock. We took it upon ourselves to make a visual lesson out of submerging one of our own giclée prints and one of the most popular online print suppliers' prints in water for 30 minutes. If the results don't surprise you, they should at least entertain you. Have a look at our recent reel we shared on Instagram/Facebook, and let us know if you think an extra dollar for a 5x7 print may be totally worth it after all.
Summer Style: Loose, Airy, Canvas Prints

Did you rearrange your room a lot when you were a kid? If so, are you also like us where you change your mind about your home decor every season?
Take this as an encouraging message to never change. Well, except change the decor whenever you want. We carry these nifty magnetic hanger frames for people like you (and us) who can't help but indulge in the changing seasons with fresh, beautiful wall decor.
These hanger frames are minimalist by design, and the magnets are super strong to hold up your favorite canvas prints. Natural solid wood, they're ready to be stained or painted to your liking- or kept as is! We currently have 2 sizes in stock: 12" and 21"
The 12" is great for holding standard 8x12 prints, smaller horizontal panoramic 6x12, or vertical banner-style 12x40" prints.
Our 12" size is $25
The 21" is perfect for larger 20x24" prints, panoramic 21x10", or vertical 21x70" prints which could hang beautifully on a door or narrow wall space as a statement piece.
Our 21" size is $35
We have these in store, but are happy to ship: just send us an email!

Thinking Inside The Box: ShadowBoxes

Our super framer Steph did it again! This month, we had a customer come by with two boxes full of nostalgic horse show ribbons, pictures, and plaques. While our customer was undecided on a specific vision, Steph was able to walk him through a whole design layout: assisting in color choices to help the items pop, down to the perfect frame to match. The result was a gorgeous showcase of sentimental pieces that he and his wife would cherish on the wall- no longer stashed away in a closet.
We've learned so much about shadowbox framing thanks to Steph's on-site help. She came to us when we first took the ownership reigns at Giclée and were mostly horsing around with the printing side of things (cringey puns intended...).
If you have a stash of valuables that you've been meaning to have showcased via shadowbox framing, we would love to have you! An appointment is not required, but is appreciated and can help us to line up schedules with Steph if we have questions. She has been an incredible addition to our small team and we truly can't be more lucky to have her on deck when big projects like this come our way!
Another Paint Night Event Is Coming:
Paint Your Muse!

Back in June, we hosted a mandala paint night with Tanya Miller- a local artist who blends meditative techniques and art, inspiring others to reconnect with their inner artist in a non-critical way. Letting go is a common theme in Tanya's process, and as a teacher, her energy is light and easy to be around- making her classes a truly joyful experience.
When: Wednesday, September 16th 6pm
Where: Giclée Printing and Framing (1240 Park St. Palmer MA)
Cost: $55
